Can Children Understand the Gospel?

Jesus put a high priority on children, reflecting the heart of God that we see throughout history. Think about it: time and again, God instructs Israel to teach their children. He worked through child kings and young prophets. Jesus Himself came as a child, and spoke to and about children often. “The kingdom of God belongs to such as these!” he tells His followers.

Children have a unique ability because of the posture of their heart to repent and believe. They have fewer obstacles in their way to comprehend spiritual truths including the wonderful news that Jesus loves them and came to save them.

“The Gospel is beautiful because it can be profound and simple. Meat for the mature believer and milk for the child believer, providing that perfect nourishment that every soul needs.” ~ Bill McCaskell ~
